Safety Update: Commitment Vs. Compliance
The difference between commitment and compliance is simple. Compliance means one is doing something because they have to, for fear of some negative result, (e.g., receiving a fine or disciplinary action). Commitment means one is doing something because they believe that it is the right thing to do.
Not following rules, policies, procedures, etc. is a form of risk taking. We all do it at some point in our lives, and we all have a different acceptable level of risk. Living and working safely helps reduce the risk of an injury happening to us, no matter how minor the injury is.
Committing yourself to working safely, being your Brother’s Keeper, and reducing risk means that everyone has a better opportunity to go home injury free. Join Brubacher in our commitment to our Journey to Zero Injuries.
