Brubacher's Diversity = Customer Solutions

With the highly visible nature of traditionally large earth-moving projects, many of Brubacher Excavating, Inc’s (BEI’s) other services often escape the spotlight. However, BEI offers the construction community a wide range of solutions to our customers’ needs.

While full-scope projects for commercial, residential, municipal and industrial customers often bring the largest opportunities, the BEI team holds a wide range of expertise to meet a host of other needs. In addition, we are adding new types of services to meet the change within our marketplace.

So put on your hard hat and safety vest, and let’s go on a whirlwind tour!

Safety First

The first priority of every BEI project is a safe, properly trained construction team. BEI field supervisors

have all received the following training: OSHA 30-Hour Construction Outreach Training, First Aid and CPR, and 8-Hour Trenching and Excavating Safety.

Additionally, 35+ employees are Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER) certified. Over 61 employees are Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) certified by the U.S. Department of Labor. These certifications allow BEI to offer mine and quarry drilling, blasting, overburden removal, emergency response and brownfield redevelopment work.

Furthermore, BEI often has openings for customers, vendors and subcontractors to participate in our in-house safety classes at competitive rates. Contact Jeff Lee, Safety Director, for more information at 717-445-4571.

Erosion & Sedimentation Control Compliance

At any stage of the construction process, managing the risks of complying with conservation districts and DEP is an ongoing concern for many owners. Currently, many projects are dormant or taking longer than originally anticipated. Developers may now need a way to ensure their open projects meet important E&S requirements. BEI recognizes this growing need to help manage risks and now offers E&S compliance review

services, including field assessments, to aid in managing these risks. Contact Alan Houck, BEI’s Erosion and Sedimentation Compliance Technician, for details. Alan is also available to conduct educational seminars about this topic.

Vacuum Excavation

Brubacher customers are realizing that a small investment in locating underground utilities in the project planning stage saves time, money and eliminates unexpected construction delays resulting from conflicts with underground utilities. The Vac Truck specialists can also excavate in hard-to-reach places or areas too sensitive to be accessed by typical machinery. One of the best benefits of vacuum excavation comes from knowing exactly where existing utilities are located when used to confirm One-Call markouts which results in a more efficient, productive and safe job site.

HDPE Pipe Fusion Capabilties

From water lines to sewer force mains to gas lines, BEI’s crew has the training, certification and experience to install and test pipe up to a 30” diameter. A recent project encompassed 9 miles of 18” HDPE pipe installation to carry methane gas from the Conestoga Landfill to industries in eastern Lancaster County. Our team is eager to help you explore the advantages of using HDPE pipe.

Landing Clearing and Demolition

What do wood and rock-fill dams, railroad tunnels, trees, buildings, nuclear fallout shelters and burnt-out structures all have in common? All have fallen to the hands of BEI’s team of skilled professional operators. Our crew has earned the respect of our customers, other site contractors and the DEP by consistently putting safety first and working efficiently to leave a first-class site for the construction crew that follows.

Hydroseeding and Flexterra Application

Brubacher offers these services to promote quick growth and timely compliance to soil stabilization requirements. While hydroseeding is a familiar method of meeting requirements, the liquid application of Flexterra, a fibrous medium thatconsiderably reduces soil loss, is a less familiar application. In addition to superior growth characteristics, workers aren’t exposed to the risks associated with climbing steep slopes to install traditional erosion control blankets.

Project Dedication Services

Whether or not BEI was the original site contractor that developed the project, we are available for base pavement repair, curb repair, basin conversion, punch list completion and final wearing course installation so you can finish out your project. Over the last 38 years, BEI has built strong relationships with area municipalities, and our professional crews are aware of the impact on existing residents and can help make the transition easy and less stressful for everyone.
