BEST PLACES TO WORK IN PA 2008
February 12, 2009
Pennsylvania’s 100 Best Places to Work for 2008 have been announced. Team Pennsylvania Foundation joined with the Department of Community and Economic Development, the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, and the Central Penn Business Journal in announcing the companies who have made it to this coveted list.
“Team Pennsylvania Foundation is proud to be a founding and ongoing partner in the 100 Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania competition,” said Richard Hudic, president and CEO of Team Pennsylvania Foundation. “Talented and in-demand employees from around the world can use the Best Places to Work listing as a tool to find their next employer, and employers use the information from the survey to increase employee retention, refine corporate policy and ultimately boost profits.”
“I am proud to honor Pennsylvania’s Top 100 Best Places to Work -- companies that have exemplified what it takes to create a nurturing work environment through a steadfast dedication to employee growth and satisfaction," said Community and Economic Development Secretary, Dennis Yablonsky. "This ideology reflects the exceptional quality of life found throughout the Commonwealth that makes Pennsylvania a great place to live and work."
The Best Places to Work in PA Program is made up of two groups of companies: 50 medium-sized (25-250 employees) and 50 large-sized companies (251 employees or more). Through the research process, a survey is sent to both the employers and employees from hundreds of companies from across the Commonwealth.
Winning companies achieve the highest combined scores in a twofold evaluation: review of a company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophies, systems and demographics (25%); and results of an employee survey to measure the employee experience (75%).
Using a formula similar to Fortune’s “100 Best Companies to Work for in America,” the Best Companies Group scores the workplace practices survey along with the employee survey and each Best Places to Work candidate is given an overall score.
